The Apollo 11 mission was the first to take astronauts onto the Moon. The landing craft called the Eagle landed on 20th July 1969. The astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first person to step onto the Moon, 6 hours after landing. He was joined by another astronaut, Edwin Aldrin. A third astronaut Michael Collins, stayed in the spacecraft orbiting the moon.
